THE Police in Ndaiga sub-county Kibaale district have rescued a 50-year-old man from an irate mob after he allegedly strangled a three-year-old girl.
John Byaruhanga, a resident of Songalawo Landing site in Ndaiga sub-county Kibaale district is alleged to have sneaked into the bedroom of Everest Kimese, grabbed the baby and then took her to a bush where he strangled her. Kimese had gone fishing on the shores of Lake Albert.
“I left my wife with children in bed at about 9:00pm and went fishing, but when I returned in the morning, my wife told me our baby was missing,” Kimese said.
Residents mounted a search for the baby, only to find Byaruhanga in the bush with the mutilated body.
“After six hours of search, we found Byaruhanga with a mutilated body in the bush. We don’t know what he was doing with the dead child. The private parts had been cut and neck had bruises from strangulation,” said Kimese.
The body was taken to Kagadi Hospital for a post mortem.
Joseph Ayesiga, the officer in charge of Kagadi Police Station, said the suspect is still under investigations at Kitebere Police post.
“I am yet to get details about the suspect,’ Ayesiga said.
